An advocate for small business, the Padgett Business Services Foundation acts in the interest of small business in the areas of education, research and policy.

The Padgett Foundation administers the Padgett Business Services Scholarship Fund, which offers $ 500 scholarships to high school graduates whose parents or guardians own and operate small businesses.

These regional awards are part of an International program in which the Padgett Foundation will offer more than $58,000 this year alone in scholarship monies throughout the United States and Canada. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded over $500,000 to dependents of small business owners.

In order to be eligible for a Padgett Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must:
l Be a dependent of a small business owner who employs fewer than 20 individuals, owns at least 10% of the stock of the capital in the business, and is active in the day-by-day operations of the organization.
l Be a graduating high school student planning to attend an accredited post-secondary institution.
l Complete an application and have it postmarked and mailed to the Padgett Business Services by March 1st, 2003.
An independent scholarship committee will judge each scholarship application. Local winners will be announced in May and will be presented at a local awards ceremony. All local winners will then become eligible for one international scholarship of $4,000, which will be announced in June 2003.
